Anne Grey is the Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Orange County Chapter in Orange, CA. She leads the strategic goals of the Alzheimer’s Association and fulfills the organization’s mission to promote brain health; while accelerating research funding, and changing the trajectory of Alzheimer’s disease.

Patty Barnett Mouton has served as the Vice President, Outreach & Advocacy, for Alzheimer’s Orange County since 2005, after volunteering for 5 years as a speaker and support group facilitator, while working in hospice care. Patty has been a featured lecturer at many national and statewide conferences including: National POLST Paradigm Conference, California Council of Geriatrics and Gerontology, American Society on Aging National Conference and the California Association of Health Services at Home Conference. She has had several articles published about the work done with Dr. Vincent Nguyen in the area of Advance Care Planning. She holds a certificate in Fundamentals of Gerontology from USC, a certificate in Palliative Care Chaplaincy from CSU San Marcos, and a BS in Human Services from Springfield College.

Why Journalism Matters More Than Ever

This session is an opportunity for attendees to meet some key OC Register editors and reporters. They will give insight into how they go about providing information to the Orange County community, and why they consider local journalism their highest priority. They will answer general questions about a variety of topics including politics, public health, environment and religion, and answer questions about newsroom operations and decisions.
Todd Harmonson is the OC Register’s senior editor and one of the lead editors for the Southern California News Group. He is an award-winning journalist who spent much of his career in sports as a reporter and editor. Harmonson has been honored by the Associated Press Sports Editors and the Orange County Press Club for his column writing. He was inducted into Cal State Fullerton’s Communications Wall of Fame in 2017.
Diya Chacko is the Public Health and Environment Editor and has been with the Register since 2017. Diya has degrees from USC Annenberg and Columbia University’s Earth and Environmental Science Journalism master’s program.
Deepa Bharath covers religion. Her work is focused on how religion, race and ethnicity shape our understanding of what it is to be American and how religion in particular helps influence public policies, laws and a region’s culture. Deepa also writes about race, cultures and social justice issues. She has been with the Register since May 2006.
Theresa Walker has been a staff writer since 1992. She specializes in human interest stories and social issues, such as homelessness. She also covers nonprofits and philanthropy in Orange County. Theresa loves telling stories about ordinary people who do the extraordinary in their communities.
